**Science has established a counterproductive imperative to “define” any/everything (e.g. absolute zero vs. zero-point energy, constant-yet-relative speed of light) before we actually understand how the universe works. Yes, all models are wrong, but we enshrine ours like theology.**
This inherent drive within the scientific method, particularly as it solidified during the Enlightenment and the subsequent rise of positivism, prioritizes the operationalization and quantification of phenomena.
